COPPA Compliance
last updated: June 17, 2025
Introduction
PlayPexo.com (“PlayPexo,” “we,” “our,” or “us”) is committed to protecting the privacy of children who use our games and related services (“service”). This Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (“COPPA”) notice explains our practices for collecting, using, and disclosing personal information from children under 13 years of age. It supplements our Privacy policy and should be read together with it.
What is COPPA
COPPA is a United States law that requires operators of websites and online services directed to children under 13—or that knowingly collect personal information from children under 13—to provide notice and obtain verifiable parental consent before collecting, using, or disclosing such information.
Our commitment
- PlayPexo is designed for a general-audience user base and is not directed primarily to children under 13.
- We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 without verifiable parental consent.
- If we learn that we have inadvertently collected personal information from a child under 13, we will delete that information as quickly as possible.
Data collection from children
If a child under 13 attempts to create an account or interact with areas of the service that require personal information, we will:
- Limit the information requested to what is reasonably necessary to participate in the activity.
- Promptly notify the parent or legal guardian and request verifiable consent before any further collection or use.
Personal information we might request
- First name or screen name (not full name)
- Parent or guardian email address for consent and communication
- Limited gameplay data necessary to provide core functionality (e.g., high scores)
We do not ask children for sensitive information such as full legal names, postal addresses, phone numbers, or payment details.
Parental consent process
- Notice – We send a detailed email explaining the type of information we wish to collect and how it will be used.
- Verification – Parents verify their identity via one of the following approved COPPA methods:
- Replying to the notice email with a signed consent form.
- Providing valid credit-card or payment-card authorization (either no charge or a nominal refundable charge).
- Submitting a government-issued ID (processed and stored in compliance with data-protection laws).
- Activation – After successful verification, the child’s account or activity is activated.
If parental consent is not obtained within 14 days, we delete any information collected from the child and disable the pending account or activity.
Parental rights
Parents or legal guardians may, at any time:
- Review the personal information we have collected from their child.
- Request deletion of their child’s personal information from our records.
- Revoke consent and refuse further collection or use of their child’s information.
To exercise these rights, send a request to [email protected] with the subject line “COPPA Request.” We will verify the identity of the requester before fulfilling any request.
Verification methods
We use commercially reasonable procedures approved by the U.S. Federal Trade Commission, including:
- Charge-card verification with nominal reversible charge
- Signed parental consent forms returned via email or fax
- Government-issued ID check (with secure, limited-time storage)
Security measures
- All child-related data is stored behind industry-standard encryption and restricted-access controls.
- We conduct periodic security audits to ensure compliance with COPPA and other privacy laws.
Third-party services
We carefully screen third-party service providers (e.g., analytics, ad networks) to ensure they comply with COPPA if they might access children’s data. Where possible, we employ contextual advertising instead of personalized ads for any child users to avoid behavioral profiling.
Data retention
We retain personal information collected from a child only for as long as necessary to fulfill the purpose for which it was collected and to comply with legal obligations. Once the purpose has been met, the data is securely deleted.
Changes to this policy
We may update this COPPA notice to reflect changes in our practices or legal requirements. The “last updated” date will reflect the most recent revisions. Material changes will be communicated prominently on the site or via email to verified parents.
